How the Stoolio Score Works
Aug 15, 2026
The Stoolio Score is a single number out of 100 that summarizes each scan you take with Stoolio, the gut health scanner app. Instead of asking you to interpret half a dozen separate readings every time you go, the score condenses what the scan saw — consistency, color, and related indicators — into one number you can follow over time.
Here’s what goes into it, what a given score does and doesn’t mean, and how to actually use it.
What is the Stoolio Score?
Every time you scan, Stoolio analyzes the visual features of the stool and produces a set of readouts. The Stoolio Score is the roll-up: one number, out of 100, calculated per scan. You’ll see it at the top of every result — “Stoolio Score: 71 — based on this scan.”
Think of it like a daily readout rather than a report card. Its job is to make change visible: when something in your routine shifts — hydration, fiber, travel, stress — the score tends to move, and that movement is the useful part.
What goes into the score?
The score draws on the same readouts you see elsewhere in your scan result:
- Hydration Indicator (0–100). A read on where your stool’s visual features suggest your hydration sits — labeled plainly, like “balanced.”
- Fiber Indicator (0–100). The same idea for fiber, one of the biggest everyday influences on consistency.
- Estimated Transit Time. A range — like 18–30 hours — estimating how long food took to move through you, with a note when it reads slightly fast or slow.
- Bristol Type. Where the stool lands on the standard seven-type consistency scale, with a visual estimate in plain language (“soft blobs with clear-cut edges”).
- Color Assessment. Where the color sits on a pale-to-very-dark range.
- Fat Absorption Indicator (0–100). A read based on visual characteristics associated with how fats moved through digestion.
When several of these read in typical ranges, the score reflects it; when some drift, the score drifts too. That’s the design: one number that’s honest about the scan underneath it.
What does a “good” Stoolio Score mean?
The most useful way to read the score is relative to your own history. A 71 on its own is just a number; a 71 after two weeks in the 80s is a pattern worth noticing — and usually one you can trace to something ordinary, like a low-water week or a fiber-light stretch of eating. The score isn’t a grade of your worth, your diet, or your health. It’s a consistent way of noticing that today looked different from your usual.
What the score can’t tell you
The Stoolio Score is calculated from visual features of a scan, which means it inherits the limits of scanning itself: it isn’t a lab result, it doesn’t detect what isn’t visible, and it doesn’t diagnose anything. Stoolio is a general wellness tool. If you have a health concern, that conversation belongs with a healthcare professional — ideally one you can hand your baseline to, which is where tracking quietly pays off.
How to actually use the score
Three habits get you most of the value (and if you want the full playbook for moving the number, it’s in how to improve your Stoolio Score):
- Scan casually, not religiously. The score works best as an ambient stat. Check in when you go; let the record accumulate on its own.
- Watch the trend, not the day. One low score is trivia. A drifting weekly average is information.
- Connect drifts to inputs. When the score moves, look at the two levers the indicators point at most often — water and fiber — before anything more exotic.
Frequently asked questions
What is Stoolio?
Stoolio is a gut health scanner and poop tracking app for iOS, made by Stoolio LLC. You scan instead of logging: each scan produces indicators for hydration and fiber, an estimated transit time, a Bristol type, a color assessment, and a single Stoolio Score out of 100. It’s private by default — your scan data is used to generate your insights, not to sell ads or target you.
Is the Stoolio Score a medical measurement?
No. It’s a wellness readout computed from the visual features of your scan — useful for building a baseline and noticing change, and not a diagnosis, screening, or lab measurement of any kind.
How do I get my first score?
Download Stoolio on the App Store and take a scan — your first three scans are free, and your first score shows up in seconds.
