Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy ("Policy") describes how Stoolio LLC ("Stoolio," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, discloses, retains, and protects information in connection with the Stoolio mobile application (the "App"), our website(s), and all related services (collectively, the "Service"). By accessing or using the Service, you ("you" or "User") acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to this Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
Stoolio is a consumer wellness and informational application. Stoolio is not a medical device, healthcare provider, or diagnostic tool. Information provided through the Service is for general informational and observational purposes only and does not constitute medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information You Provide Directly
Account Information: Name, email address, password, and other registration details.
Profile Information: Preferences, settings, and optional demographic information you choose to provide.
Scan Data: Images, photographs, and scan-related inputs you submit through the App ("Scan Data"). Scan Data may include images of stool or related bodily outputs. You acknowledge that Scan Data is sensitive in nature.
User-Generated Content: Notes, tags, labels, journal entries, or other content you create within the App.
Communications: Messages, feedback, support requests, survey responses, and correspondence you send to us.
Payment Information: Payment and subscription information is processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play) and their respective payment processors. We do not directly collect or store your credit card number or financial account information.
1.2 Information Collected Automatically
Device Information: Device type, model, operating system, version, unique device identifiers (e.g., IDFA, IDFV, Android Advertising ID), language, time zone, and carrier.
Usage Information: Features used, screens viewed, actions taken, session duration, timestamps, frequency of use, scan frequency, and interaction patterns.
Log Data: IP address, browser type, referring/exit pages, crash reports, error logs, and diagnostic data.
Analytics Data: Aggregated and pseudonymized analytics collected through first-party and third-party analytics tools (e.g., Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics, or similar).
Location Information: We may collect approximate location (e.g., city, state, country) derived from your IP address. We do not collect precise GPS location unless you explicitly grant permission.
1.3 Information from Third Parties
Authentication Providers: If you sign in using a third-party service (e.g., Apple Sign-In, Google Sign-In), we receive limited profile information as permitted by that provider.
App Store / Payment Platforms: Subscription status, purchase receipts, and transaction identifiers from Apple or Google.
Analytics Partners: Aggregated or de-identified analytics data from third-party partners.
2. How We Use Your Information
Service Delivery: To provide, operate, maintain, personalize, and improve the Service, including generating scan-based observations and informational insights.
Account Management: To create and manage your account, authenticate your identity, and communicate with you.
Algorithm and Product Improvement: To train, develop, and refine our algorithms and models using de-identified or aggregated data.
Quality Assurance and Safety: To detect errors, fraud, abuse, and security threats.
Analytics: To understand how the Service is used and measure performance.
Communications: To send transactional messages, service updates, and opt-in promotional messages.
Subscription Management: To process and manage your subscription and billing.
Legal Compliance: To comply with applicable laws and enforce our Terms of Use.
De-identification: We may de-identify or aggregate information for any lawful purpose.
3. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with:
Service Providers: Cloud hosting, analytics, crash reporting, customer support, and payment processing vendors.
App Store Platforms: Apple and Google for purchases and platform compliance.
Legal Obligations: When required by law or to protect rights, property, or safety.
Business Transfers: In connection with mergers, acquisitions, or asset sales.
With Your Consent: Where you provide explicit consent.
Aggregated Data: De-identified information that cannot identify you.
4. Data Retention
We retain your information while your account is active and as needed. Upon account deletion:
Scan Data images are deleted within 90 days, except de-identified derivatives.
Backup data may be retained for a limited period.
De-identified or aggregated data may be retained indefinitely.
Data required by law may be retained as necessary.
5. Data Security
We implement commercially reasonable safeguards including encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest, access controls, and regular security assessments. No method of electronic storage is 100% secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. Your Rights and Choices
6.1 Account Information
Update or correct account information in the App settings. Request deletion at support@stoolio.app or via the in-app deletion feature.
6.2 California Residents (CCPA/CPRA)
California residents may: know what personal information we collect; request deletion; opt out of sale or sharing; correct inaccurate information; and limit use of sensitive personal information. We do not sell personal information. Contact support@stoolio.app to exercise your rights.
6.3 Other State Privacy Rights
Residents of Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, and other states with privacy laws may have additional rights. Contact support@stoolio.app.
6.4 Washington My Health My Data Act
Washington residents: your Scan Data may constitute "consumer health data." We collect it with your affirmative consent. You may withdraw consent and request deletion at support@stoolio.app.
6.5 Data Deletion Requests
We honor verifiable deletion requests within 45 days.
7. Children's Privacy
The Service is not intended for individuals under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. Contact support@stoolio.app if you believe a child has provided us information.
8. Third-Party Services
The Service may link to third-party services. This Policy does not apply to them. Review their privacy policies independently.
9. International Data Transfers
The Service is operated from the United States. By using the Service, you consent to the transfer of your information to the United States.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy and will notify you by updating the "Last Updated" date and, where required, providing additional notice.
